General description

Lucifer Yellow CH is the hydrazine (-NH-CO-NH-NH2) form of the dye compared to Lucifer Yellow VS, which is the vinyl sulfone (-Ph-SO2-CH=CH2) form. Lucifer Yellow CH dilithium salt is a fluorescent dye(1) comprising of amino, sulfo and phenyl-N-hydrazinocarbonylamino substituents on the naphthalimide chromophore. The hydrophilic nature of Lucifer yellow CH underlies its numerous applications as a stain of living cells and tissues.

Application

Lucifer yellow CH has been used to stain nerve cells and to demonstrate electrical coupling between hamster oocytes and cumulous cells during meiotic maturation in vivo and in vitro.
Lucifer Yellow CH is mainly used as a tracer dye and useful in marking nerve cells.
A highly fluorescent dye, useful in marking nerve cells.
