2,4-チアゾリジンジオンは良く知られたペルオキシソーム増殖剤活性化受容体（PPAR）活性化剤です。Fischer 344ラット由来の腎臓を使用して加齢プロセスへの効果を研究した結果が報告されています。Knoevenagel縮合反応と、それに続く水素ガスとPd/C触媒による還元を経由して合成した 2,4-チアゾリジンジオン結合体ライブラリが作成されています。各種芳香族アルデヒドと2,4-チアゾリジンジオンをポリエチレングリコール-300中でKnoevenagel縮合させた研究が報告されています。
アプリケーション
2,4-チアゾリジンジオンは16種類の5-アリーリデン-2,4-チアゾリジンジオンの合成（超音波促進アルドール縮合反応を経由）に使用することができます。抗糖尿病活性薬剤合成の開始物質として使用されることがあります。
