Ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P) is capable of blocking cell death in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs). It controls the growth and survival in various cell types. It acts as a pro-inflammatory agent and plays a key role in phagocytosis. Ceramide-1-phosphate is well known as a second messenger and an important mediator of inflammatory response.
