General description

KT5823 is a protein kinase inhibitor. It inhibits guanosine monophosphate (GMP)-dependent protein kinase activity (cGK). It is a staurosporine compound, which promotes the thyroid-stimulating hormone and regulates Na+/I symporter (NIS) expression.

Application

KT 5823 has been used as cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-dependent protein kinase (PKG) inhibitor in cortical cultures, cortical neurons and in mouse brain capillary endothelial cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Selective inhibitor of PKG.

Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in acute ischemic preconditioning (IPC).
