ゼアチンは、ココナツミルク由来の植物ホルモンで、根、茎頂、未熟器官など発達中または成長中の組織や器官に見られる一般的な植物サイトカイニンです。その構造には、アデニンのアミノ基があり、それがトランス位置でヒドロキシル化されたイソプレン残基と結合しています。
生物化学的／生理学的作用
ゼアチンは、側芽の成長を促進し、細胞分裂（片側優位性）、カルス発生、および種子発芽を刺激します。ゼアチンは、ムラシゲ・スクーク培地などの培地で使用されます。ゼアチンは、節間部からの多芽体形成を促進し、高頻度の厚く広がった根の形成を促進します。
