2-アセチル-4-テトラヒドロキシブチルイミダゾール（THI）は、ラットの末梢血リンパ球減少症を誘発することが知られています。ラットの研究では、THIがリンパ球の移動と分解に影響する可能性も報告されています。
THIは、スフィンゴシン-1-リン酸リアーゼのインヒビターであり、免疫抑制薬としても作用します。
THIは、スフィンゴシン-1-リン酸リアーゼのインヒビターであり、免疫抑制薬としても作用します。スフィンゴシン-1-リン酸(S1P)リアーゼは、S1Pがヘキサデカンアルデヒドとホスホエタノールアミンへと非可逆的に分解される反応触媒します。S1Pのリアーゼ活性を低下させると、S1P受容体の合成アゴニストによる非リンパ系病変を伴うことなく、治療レベルの免疫抑制作用が得られます。
