ヘモグロビンA2（HBA2）は、ヒト染色体16p13.3にマッピングされています。HBA2はヘモグロビンの非主要な構成要素であり、2つのαおよびδ鎖で構成されています。
ヘモグロビンは赤血球の主な構成要素であり、その赤色の原因となるものです。赤血球中でのヘモグロビンの正常濃度は34%です。ヘモグロビンは、酸素を肺から体組織に運搬し、二酸化炭素を肺に戻す運搬を促進する能力を有するため、脊椎動物の最も重要な呼吸系タンパク質です。
天然の標品（ヘモグロビン第一鉄非凍結乾燥品）に対する機能上の同等性については試験していません。
アプリケーション
ヘモグロビンA2、鉄安定化ヒトは、δ-グロビン溶出プロファイルを定量する逆相高速液体クロマトグラフィーの標準物質として使用されています。また、同位体希釈質量分析（IDMS）の較正物質として使用されています。
ヘモグロビンA2は、時間分解蛍光免疫測定法による胎児ヘモグロビンの測定に使用されました。
生物化学的／生理学的作用
ヘモグロビンA2（HBA2）濃度の上昇がβ-サラセミア形質患者で認められます。
包装
容量は、Drabkin, D.L., J. Biol. Chem., 164, 703 (1946)に記載の手順で測定されたヘモグロビンの量を示しています。
再構成
バッファ-に溶解すると、純度90%以上のferrous hemoglobinが得られます。
