Gene Information

human ... BAX(581)

General description

Bif-1 (BAX-interacting factor 1), a membrane-curvature inducing protein is located on human chromosome 19q13. Bif-1 is also known as SH3GLB1 (SH3 domain containing GRB2 like, endophilin B1)/ Endophilin B1. It belongs to the membrane curvature-driving endophilin protein family.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Bax around the phosphorylation site of Ser184.

Immunogen Range: 143-192

Biochem/physiol Actions

Bif-1 (BAX-interacting factor 1) plays a vital role in apoptosis. BAX gene may act as a negative regulator of autophagy in CRC (Colorectal cancer) development. Lack of Bif-1 affects lipid homeostasis and results in obesity followed by insulin resistance.

Bif-1 is a membrane-curvature inducing protein that is implicated in the regulation of autophagy and tumorigenesis. Here, we report that Bif-1 plays a critical role in regulating lipid catabolism to control the size of lipid droplets and prevent the development
