General description

Anti-NF1 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total NF1 protein.
NF1 (neurofibromin 1) gene is mapped to human chromosome 17q11.2. The protein encoded contains more than 2800 amino acids.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human NF1.

Immunogen Range: 1551-1600

Biochem/physiol Actions

NF1 (neurofibromin 1) is a tumor suppressor gene and negatively regulates RAS (proto-oncogene, GTPase). Mutation in NF1 is strongly associated with the pathogenesis of melanoma and also causes neurofibromatosis type 1. Loss of NF1 allele results in benign neurofibromas in nonmyelinating Schwann cell and is associated with desmoplastic melanoma.
