General description

Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein having high affinity for biotin. Streptavidin-R-Phycoerythrin is used to stain PNA zip-code microarray to produce a fluorescent signal. The product reacts specifically with antiserum to streptavidin but not with antiserum to avidin.

Application

Streptavidin-R-Phycoerythrin along with biotinylated reagents in an avidin/biotin labeling system can be used in flow cytometry.
The streptavidin-phycoerythrin (PE) conjugate may be used in conjunction with biotinylated reagents in the avidin/biotin labeling system in flow cytometry.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

Prepared by conjugation to R-phycoerythrin (PE). This orange-red dye is efficiently excited at 488 nm and emits at 578 nm.
