General description

Galectin-9 is generally a part of extracellular secretions but is also localized to endothelial cells, T cells and dendritic cells. Galectin-9 is a S-type lectin and its gene is mapped to human chromosome 17q11.2.
This ELISA antibody pair detects Human Galectin-9 (LGALS9)

Please refer to the attached Protocolfor details.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Galectin is a β-galactoside-binding secretory protein, which also has a carbohydrate-recognition domain. Galectin contributes to cancer progression by interacting with oncogenic proteins on the cell surface, such as integrins, fibronectin and laminin. Galectin is also known to suppress immune response in conditions such as melanoma, neuroblastoma and pancreatic carcinoma.
