Biochem/physiol Actions
Thrombospondin-2 (TSP2) is an extracellular matrix (ECM) protein involved in regulating fracture healing. In addition, it also regulates cell-matrix interactions. TSP2 plays a vital role in assembly of collagen fibrils in the skin. It is involved in tissue repair and foreign body responses. The matricellular protein TSP2 endogenously controls angiogenesis and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis patients. It also acts as an endogenous inhibitor of tumor growth.
