Application

UltraCat is excellent for CM (cross metathesis) of terminal, type 1 olefins and excellent for ethenolysis. The catalyst is also very good for mRCM (macrocyclic ring-closing metathesis) and RCM (ring closing metathesis) leading to small/medium rings. Reactions can be run at 40 to 85 °C. The following reaction solvents are compatible: toluene, ethyl acetate, dimethylcarbonate, CPME (cyclopentyl methyl ether), and neat substrate.

The state-of-the-art in olefin metathesis is application of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-containing ruthenium alkylidenes for the formation of internal C=C bonds and of cyclic alkyl amino carbene (CAAC)-containing ruthenium benzylidenes in the production of terminal olefins. A straightforward synthesis of bis(CAAC)Ru
