General description

Stearic Acid is a common fatty acid that isfound as a glycerol ester in most plant and animal fats. It exists athigher concentrations in animal fats than plant fats. Stearic acid is found asa triglyceride in cocoa butter and shea butter. It is used to enrich foodinstead of palmitic acid and trans-fat in the food industry. Stearic acid isapplicable in the production of soaps, detergents, shampoos, shaving creams, andcosmetics.

Application

Stearic acid has been used as a light chainfatty acid (LCFA) to study its effects on the dysfunction of tumor-derived exosomelipid-induced dendritic cells.

Dendritic cells (DCs) orchestrate the initiation, programming, and regulation of anti-tumor immune responses. Emerging evidence indicates that the tumor microenvironment (TME) induces immune dysfunctional tumor-infiltrating DCs (TIDCs), characterized with both increased intracellular lipid content and mitochondrial respiration. The underlying mechanism
