生物化学的／生理学的作用
BetacellulinはEGFファミリ-のヘパリン結合分子であり、ヒト膵臓の膵島細胞の増殖や分化に役割を果たすと考えられています。EGFR とerbB-4の両方に対して高親和性で結合します。erbB-3およびerbB-4を伴ったBTCの過剰発現は、ヒトの子宮内膜腺癌と関連しています。ヒトおよびマウスの前駆体型BTCは、79%のアミノ酸配列同一性を示しています。
