Informações sobre genes

human ... AURKA(6790)

Descrição geral

Aurora kinase A (AURKA) belongs to the serine/threonine kinase family. It is localized to centrosomes. AURKA gene is located on human chromosome 20q13.2.

Imunogênio

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Aurora Kinase around the phosphorylation site of Thr288.

Immunogen Range: 256-305

Aplicação

Anti-phospho-Aurora Kinase (pThr288) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunofluorescence staining.

Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

Aurora kinase A (AURKA) is involved in maintaining the stability of mitosis and chromosomes. During mitosis, AURKA participates in centrosome maturation control, mitotic entry, bipolar spindle formation, and segregation. AURKA also participates in chromosome alignment and cytokinesis. It controls several oncogenic signaling pathways. AURKA plays a major role in the self-renewal, reprogramming, and differentiation of stem cells. Knockdown of AURKA gene affects the maturation of the centrosome. Abnormality in the AURKA gene leads to aberrant cell division and aneuploidy, which in turn affects the stability of the genome and contributes to carcinogenesis. Overexpression of the AURKA gene is seen in gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and liver cancers. It can act as a candidate gene to predict colorectal adenocarcinoma.
