Lithium bromide is a versatile reagent that is commonly used as a nucleophilic brominating reagent. It is also employed as a Lewis acid catalyst and a mediator in various reactions.

Aplicação

Lithium bromide can be used as a catalyst in the:
  • Solvent-free condensation of arylene diamines and esters to synthesize 2-substituted benzimidazoles and imidazopyridines.
  • Three-component condensation of aldehydes, β-ketoesters, and urea to synthesize dihydropyrimidinones via Biginelli reaction.
  • Solvent-free Ehrlich-Sachs reaction.
