Descrição geral

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is a prime metabolite in eukaryotes glycerolipid metabolism, mainly synthesized in liver. It is a major element of lipoproteins, bile and lung surfactant. NBD PC contains 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl (NBD) covalently attached to phosphatidylcholine.

Aplicação

18:1-06:0 NBD PC is suitable for:
  • the generation giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) subjected to fluorescence microscopy
  • labelling lipid bilayers formed by vesicle fusion in order to study the lipid distribution by fluorescence microscopy
  • the preparation of phospholipid-coated beads

Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl phosphatidylcholine (NBD PC) functions as a fluorescent analog in biological membranes in order to study the cellular processes.

Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is an essential phospholipid for mitochondrial functions and is synthesized mainly by phosphatidylserine (PS) decarboxylase at the mitochondrial inner membrane. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, PS is synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), such that mitochondrial PE synthesis requires PS
