Gene Information

General description

Activity regulated cytoskeleton associated protein (Arc) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 8q24.3.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminal region of human Arc, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse Arc.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Activity regulated cytoskeleton associated protein (Arc) plays a vital role in memory formation. It also facilitates activity-dependent plasticity of dendrites. Mutation in the gene has been associated with the development of idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE).

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
