Recombinant decay accelerating factor for complement

Application

Anti-CD55 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Complement decay-accelerating factor (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a protein encoded by the CD55 gene in humans. It plays multiple functions including tissue protection from the cytotoxic complement injury and an anti-inflammatory function due to its anti-adherence properties. It is essential in many organ systems including pregnancy for protection of the semiallogeneic fetus or for preventing uncontrolled infiltration by white cells in their pro- and/or anti-inflammatory functions. Expression of CD55 appears to have multiple regulatory tissue-specific and/or menstrual cycle-specific mechanisms that are involved in complex signaling mechanisms. Its regulation may involve a direct or an indirect effect of at least the estrogen, progesterone, and corticosteroid regulatory pathways. It plays a a primary role in conferring resistance to lysis. CD55 is overexpressed in several types of cancer.
