Gene Information

human ... OLR1(4973)

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human OLR1

Application

Anti-OLR1 antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a concentration of 2.5μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Oxidized low density lipoprotein (lectin-like) receptor 1 (OLR1; LOX1) is a receptor for low density lipoprotein (LDL) that belongs to C-type lectin superfamily. It binds, internalizes and degrades oxidized LDL and has a role as scavenger receptor. It may be involved in the regulation of Fas-induced apoptosis. Mutations in OLR1 gene are associated with atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: QANLTHQKKKLEGQISARQQAEEASQESENELKEMIETLARKLNEKSKEQ

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Here we demonstrate that "concentration polarization" of ox-LDL enhances LOX-1 expression and ox-LDL uptake. It damages cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPG) and activates LOX-1 dependent autophagy and apoptosis. We also show that ox-LDL concentration polarization occurs on the surface

Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor-1 (LOX-1) is an endothelial scavenger receptor that is important for oxidized low-density lipoprotein uptake. LOX-1 functions as an oligomer; however, little is known about the oligomeric complex and ligand processing after recognition by LOX-1.

Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor (LOX-1) is a scavenger receptor that binds oxidized low-density lipoprotein (OxLDL) and has a role in atherosclerosis development. The N-terminus intracellular region (cytoplasmic domain) of LOX-1 mediates receptor internalization and trafficking, potentially through intracellular protein
