Gene Information

human ... TICAM1(148022)

General description

TIR domain-containing adapter molecule 1 (UniProt Q8IUC6), also known as MyD88-3, Proline-rich, vinculin and TIR domain-containing protein B, Putative NF-kB-activating protein 502H, TICAM-1, TIR domain containing adaptor inducing interferon-b, TIR domain-containing adapter protein inducing IFN-b, Toll-interleukin-1 receptor domain-containing adapter protein inducing interferon b) is encoded by the TICAM1 gene in human. TCAM-1/TRIF/MyD88-3 is as an adaptor molecule that mediates Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3)-dependent NF-kB activation and cytokine expression. Upon recognition of double-stranded RNA, TLR3 recruits TRIF, which in turn associates with TNF receptor-associated factor 3 (TRAF3) to activate two Ik-B kinase (IKK)-related kinases, TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1) and IKKi. These two kinases phosphorylate interferon regulatory factor 3/7 (IRF3/7), resulting in the induction of type I interferons (IFNs) and expression of IFN-inducible genes. TICAM-1 can also mediate NF-kB activation through receptor-interacting protein 1 (RIP1) and TRAF6. Human enterovirus 68 (EV68) is reported to disable TLR3 pathway signaling by cleaving TRIF in infected cells.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human TICAM1.
