Recombinant, human amphiregulin (AR) consisting of amino acids 101-198 and expressed in E. coli. Human amphiregulin is able to stimulate the proliferation of various human and mouse keratinocytes, mammary epithelial cells, and some fibroblasts. Shown to be an autocrine growth factor, amphiregulin is also a growth inhibitor for various tumor cells and can bind to the EGF receptor.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ED₅₀ = 5-15 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using Balb/3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblasts.
