General description
TopFluor™, a fluorescent molecule carries dipyrromethene boron difluoride moiety. It is linked to several lipid molecules by means of covalent attachment. Phosphoserine/phosphatidylserine (PS) is an endogenous phospholipid, that is found in all polyanionic macromolecules.
Application
TopFluor™ PS may be used in liposome generation and as a synthetic fluorescent phosphoserine (PS) analogue to study PS distribution and dynamics in mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs). It has also been used in the preparation of donor liposomes.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphoserine (PS) can be used as a template for the recognition of cancer antigen 125 (CA 125). It is very essential for healthy nerve cell membranes and myelin. PS actively participates in the locomotor functions, like rapid reactions and reflexes.
