铁螯合剂。完全预防多巴胺引起的细胞死亡。还干扰羟基自由基的形成，羟基自由基在几种疾病状态中介导组织损伤。显示体外和体内对血管平滑肌细胞的抗增殖作用。还可以通过异羟肟酸部分与反式过氧亚硝酸的反应来抑制过氧亚硝酸盐的氧化化学作用。
