Gene Information
human ... ULK1(8408)
General description
Unc-51 like autophagy activating kinase 1 (ULK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase which forms a component of the ULK1 protein kinase complex. This protein complex also contains the adaptor proteins ATG (autophagy-related) 13, RB1CC1/FIP200 (RB1-inducible coiled-coil 1), and ATG101. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 12q24.33.
Application
GST-ULK1 has been used in in vitro kinase assay.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Unc-51 like autophagy activating kinase 1 (ULK1) protein kinase plays a crucial role in the control of autophagy initiation. This protein is responsible for activating a cascade of signaling pathways which results in the formation of phagosomes. ULK1 is also required for the control of the expression of key interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs).
Physical form
Supplied in 50mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 150mM NaCl, 10mM glutathione, 0.1mM EDTA, 0.25mM DTT, 0.1mM PMSF, 25% glycerol.
Preparation Note
after opening, aliquot into smaller quantities and store at -70 °C. Avoid repeating handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles
