Gene Information

human ... CDK2(1017)

General description

Cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2), a nucleus-cytoplasm trafficking protein, belongs to the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) family. The CDK2 gene is located on human chromosome 12q13.2.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of threonine 160 (T-Y-T(p)-H-E), according to the protein CDK2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) protein participates in the recombination and differentiation of the cell. It plays a major role in metabolism, apoptosis, senescence, and meiosis. CDK2 is involved in the development of embryos and the remodeling of chromatin. It also plays a key role in DNA damage and DNA damage response (DDR). CDK2 controls the progression of the cell cycle. Changes in the activity of CDK2 might have an impact on human carcinogenesis. Absence of CDK2 results in DNA damage and DDR activation.

Features and Benefits

Target description

Involved in the control of the cell cycle. Interacts with cyclins A, B1, B3, D, or E. Activity of CDK2 is maximal during S phase and G2.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol
