General description
Goat serum is applicable for a wide range of cell lines and primary cell cultures. It can be used as a supplement in growth media to culture primary cells obtained from guinea pig embryos, mouse peritoneal macrophages, monkey kidneys, chick embryos, and well-established cell lines. Serum provides essential nutritional and macromolecular growth factors for cell growth when added to the basal medium.
Application
Sera from goat has been used:
- as a supplement to incubate mice ventricular cryosections for 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNEJ-2) immunostaining
- to block unspecific antigens on reticulum cell sarcoma for immunofluorescence
- as a component of the phosphate buffer saline (PBS) for incubation of slide-mounted sections for immunohistochemical analysis
