Biochem/physiol Actions
Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor is a potent neurotrophic factor that is important for the maintenance, regeneration and survival of specific neuronal cells including autonomic neurons, motoneurons, noradrenergic and seotonergic neurons. Additionally, it promotes the invasion and metastatic behavior of certain types of cancers by activating ERK, p38, JNK and AP-1 mediated cell signaling.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline
Preparation Note
Purified using protein G.

Oral oncology, 49(12), 1103-1112 (2013-09-28)
Perineural invasion is a prominent clinical feature of various cancers, which causes difficulty in curative resection. Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), a potent neurotrophic factor, plays an important role in the invasive and metastatic behavior of various cancers. The aim

Although initially thought to be important primarily in neural development, a number of trophic proteins have been found to have neuroprotective and neuroregenerative activity in the adult central nervous system, particularly for midbrain dopamine neurons (MDN). Neurorestoration is potentially feasible

Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and the neurotrophin nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) are important for the survival, maintenance and regeneration of specific neuronal populations in the adult brain. Depletion of these neurotrophic factors has been

Stimulation of rat microglia with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro induces production of the inflammatory/cytotoxic cytokine tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) along with superoxide anion (O(2)(-)) and nitric oxide (NO). In this study, we investigated the role of O(2)(-) and NO
