Description

General description

Combined effect of NaNO₂ and NaCl on the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in tryptone soya broth has been investigated using automated turbidimetric system. Its carcinogenic effects in F-344 rats have been evaluated.

Application

Sodium nitrite may be used as a standard for the quantitative determination of nitrite in culture medium. It may be used in the preparation of isopropyl nitrite, via reaction with isoamyl alcohol.
