Application

BG-11 is an universal medium for the cultivation and maintenance of blue green algae (cyanobacteria), such as Synechocystis 6803; Nostoc sp. PCC 9104 and Nostoc sp. PCC 9025. It is used for studies of the photosystems, as well as to identify the primary targets of the photoprocess.

Preparation Note

Dissolve the medium concentrate 1:100 with sterile water. It is recommended to adjust pH, under aseptic conditions, with 1M NaOH to 7.1 or as desired. Add the choosen sterile trace element solution.

Footnote

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
