Gene Information

Specificity

Cranin (dystroglycan), extracellular site, near the C-terminus of the alpha-subunit. The expression and localization of cranin varies considerably according to the cells physiologic state and differentiaion state. MAB371 recognizes the same peptide region as MAB373 but a different epitope.

Immunogen

Epitope: aa572-604 of human sequence
Synthetic peptide corresponding to a.a. 572-604 of human cranin.

Application

Immunohistochemistry on tissue fixed briefly with 0.5% glutaraldehyde, 2% PLP fixation, methanol or acetone. Prolonged fixation must be avoided. Traditional formalin is not recommended. Suggested working dilution 1:1-1:50.

Immunocytochemistry on neuron, astrocyte, smooth muscle, fibroblast and epithelial cell lines.

ELISA

Not suggested for use in Western blot.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.

Dystroglycan is a high affinity laminin-binding glycoprotein originally described as a member of the dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex in muscle. We have demonstrated the presence of dystroglycan in the thyroid using immunocytochemistry, immunoblots, ligand binding assays, and relative quantitative RT-PCR. In

Fibroblast growth factors and receptors are intimately connected to the extracellular matrix by their affinity to heparan sulfate proteoglycans. They mediate multiple processes during embryonic development and adult life. In this study, embryonic stem cell-derived embryoid bodies were used to
