Specificity

This rabbit polyclonal antibody specifically detects murine Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein. It targets an epitope within the N-terminal half.

Immunogen

His-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 250 amino acids from the N-terminal half of mouse Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein

Target description

Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein (UniProt: P97500; also known as MyT1-L, MyT1L, Neural zinc finger factor 1, NZF-1, Postmitotic neural gene 1 protein, Zinc finger protein Png-1) is encoded by the Myt1l (also known as Kiaa1106, Nzf1, Png1) gene (Gene ID: 17933) in murine species. MyT1l is a pan neuron-specific transcription factor that plays a key role in neuronal differentiation by specifically repressing expression of non-neuronal genes during neuron differentiation. It preferentially binds to DNA binding sites that are in an open chromatin configuration. It is reported to exert its pro-neuronal function by direct repression of many different somatic lineage programs. MyT1l inhibits specific lineages and mediates repression of multiple differentiation programs. Its repressive function is mediated via recruitment of a complex containing Sin3b by binding to N-terminal domain. It is also shown to repress the expression of negative regulators of neurogenesis, such as members of the Notch signaling pathways, including Hes1. The combination of ASCL1, POU3F2/BRN2, and MyT1L is shown to be sufficient to reprogram fibroblasts into induced neuronal (iN) cells and administration of exogenous Myt1l can greatly enhance the efficiency of reprogramming and the functional maturity of the resulting iN cells. Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
