General description

Bin1, also known as Myc box-dependent-interacting protein 1, Amphiphysin II, Amphiphysin-like protein, Box-dependent myc-interacting protein 1, Bridging integrator 1, and encoded by the gene BIN1/AMPHL, is another protein involved in the regulation of synaptic vesicle endocytosis and interestingly also acts as tumor suppressor and inhibits malignant cell transformation. BIN1 is expressed in many tissues but has the highest expression in brain and muscle. BIN1 has isoforms and particular isoforms are expressed in particular tissues. For instance BIN1 isoform 11A is only expressed in the brain and found in axon initial segments and nodes of Ranvier. Mutations in BIN1 are associated with a disordered called centronuclear 2 myopathy. BIN1 is localized to nucleus but some isoforms are associated with cytoplasm.

Immunogen

Linear peptide corresponding to human Bin1.
