Probable G-protein coupled receptor 146 (UniProt: Q96CH1; also known as G-protein coupled receptor PGR8, GPR146) is encoded by the GPR146 (also known as PGR8) gene (Gene ID: 115330) in human. GPR146 is a multi-pass membrane protein with four extracellular domains, seven transmembrane domains, and four cytoplasmic domains. It is reported to promote the activity of hepatic sterol regulatory element binding protein 2 (SREBP2) via activation of the ERK signaling pathway that regulates hepatic very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) secretion, and subsequently reduces the circulating levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides (TG) levels. Deficiency of GPR146 is shown to reduce hepatic SREBP2 activity and VLDL secretion rate. This significantly reduces plasma cholesterol levels in both wild-type and LDL receptor-deficient mice. Mice deficient in GPR146 are shown to have significantly reduced aortic atherosclerotic lesions. This ZooMAb^® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals.
