Ras-related protein Rab-7A (UniProt: P51149; also known as Rab-7a) is encoded by the RAB7A (also known as RAB7) gene (Gene ID: 7879) in human. Rab7A is a highly conserved member of the large superfamily of Ras-like GTPases. It is widely expressed, peripheral membrane protein that is localized mainly to late endosomes and regulates transport from early endosomes to late endosomes and from late endosomes to lysosomes. It is not only important for vesicle formation, transport and fusion but also for cargo selection and sorting. Like other GTPases, Rab7 also undergoes characteristic cyclical mechanism of activation and inactivation depending on GTP binding and hydrolysis. It also plays a many other cellular and physiological events, such as growth-factor-mediated cell signaling, nutrient-transporter mediated nutrient uptake, neurotrophin transport in the axons of neurons and lipid metabolism. It also participates in some specialized endosomal membrane trafficking, such as maturation of melanosomes, pathogen-induced phagosomes and autophagosomes. More recently, it is reported to be essential for vesicular trafficking and cell surface expression of ACE2 and loss of Rab7A is reduces SARS-CoV-2 entry into cells by sequestering the ACE2 receptor inside cells through altered endosomal trafficking. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon.
