Protein transport protein Sec61 subunit beta (UniProt: P60468; also known as Sec61B) is encoded by the SEC61B gene (Gene ID: 10952) in human. The transport of precursor proteins into and across the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane is a highly conserved process. ER harbors the protein translocon that facilitates membrane integration or translocation of newly synthesized proteins targeted to multiple organelles of the endocytotic and exocytotic pathways. This translocon comprises the polypeptide-conducting SEC61 channel and several additional proteins and complexes that are permanently or transiently associated with the heterotrimeric SEC61 complex, which is composed of a, b, and g subunits. SEC61 is the central element of the protein translocation machinery and it forms a protein conducting channel with an aqueous central pore. Precursor polypeptides can either completely cross the ER membrane through the Sec61 channel or they can exit into the lipid phase of the membrane if they contain hydrophobic transmembrane domains. In addition to its role in protein translocation, SEC61 also serves as a Ca2+ channel that allows a passive efflux of Ca2+ ions from the ER lumen. Hence, SEC61 can counteract the active import of Ca2+ into the ER lumen through the sarcoplasmic/ER Ca2+ ATPase. SEC61B, a single-pass membrane protein, is a component of the SEC61 complex with one cytoplasmic (aa 2-70) and one transmembrane (aa 71-91) domain. Loss-of-function SEC61B are known to cause a precursor-specific ER protein import defect and is linked to polycystic liver disease. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.
