酢酸タリウム（I）は、タリウム（III）酸化物を酢酸と無水酢酸に溶解し、80-90oCで攪拌して調製されます。ろ過後の溶液を冷やして生成物を再結晶化します。ある研究によれば、この物質が存在（濃度1 mg/ml）することにより、多数のマイコプラズマ属とアコレプラズマ属が増殖できるようになります。
アプリケーション
実験室においては一般的に、特定の培地でモリキュートを検出するためのグラム陰性バクテリアに対する選択要素として使用されています。タリウム誘導体合成において使用されることもあります。
