應用
来自人血浆的血红素结合蛋白已经使用金黄色葡萄球菌表面定植测定。它也已被用于刺激混合淋巴细胞,以确定急性排斥反应中的生物标志物。
生化/生理作用
血红素结合蛋白是一种急性期蛋白,通过其血红素清除活性对氧化强制降解起主要保护作用。血红蛋白以高亲和力结合血红素,对于回收与血红素分子结合的铁以及防止血红素诱导的细胞损伤至关重要。 游离血红素从血红蛋白等蛋白质中释放或丢失后,可以催化活性氧的形成。 血红素是亲脂性的,并相互螯合到脂质膜中,并参与高毒性羟基自由基的形成。 血红素结合蛋白还可以防止血红素介导的LDL胆固醇氧化。
