生化/生理作用

紫黄质是一种强抗氧化剂,也是岩藻黄质和β-大马酮等重要化合物的重要前体。它是叶黄素循环的非光化学荧光猝灭结构成分,可保护光合系统免受过量光照的影响。从空心菜中提取的紫黄质具有很强的2,2′-联氮双-3-乙基苯并噻唑啉-6-磺酸 (ABTS+)自由基清除作用,还可抑制脂质过氧化和红细胞溶血。因此,它有望用于各种医药和保健产品。
