Cell Line Description

Used for propagation of several viruses, including St Louis, Eastern Equine and California encephalitis; duck virus enteritis agent; also for preparation of live rubella virus vaccine.

Application

Vaccine development and virus replication studies: rubella, duck enteritis virus

Culture Medium

EMEM (HBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-5x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO₂; 37°C. At least 30 passages.
