16:0 EPC (1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-ethylphosphocholine) is a saturated phospholipid with choline as its cationic group. It exists in the gel phase at physiological temperature.

Application

16:0 EPC (Cl Salt) has been used in liposome preparation. It has also been used as a component of cationic lipid mixture.

Biochem/physiol Actions

16:0 EPC has the ability to transfect DNA into cells.
