髓过氧化物酶(MPO)是在髓样分化过程中合成的血红素蛋白，构成嗜中性粒细胞嗜天青颗粒的主要成分。髓过氧化物酶作为单链前体产生，随后被分裂成轻链和重链。成熟的髓过氧化物酶是由2条轻链和2条重链组成的四聚体。这种酶可产生对嗜中性粒细胞杀灭微生物活性至关重要的次卤酸。（由RefSeq提供）
