Ammonium dichromate is a hexavalent chromium compound with a high oxidation potential. Hexavalent chromium is potent carcinogen and an environmental pollutant.

應用

Ammonium dichromate may be used in the following processes:

• Oxidation of alcohols in the presence of Mg(HSO₄)₂ (magnesium hydrogen sulfate) and wet SiO₂ (silicon dixide).
• Preparation of Cr₂O₃/Al₂O₃ (chromium (III) oxide/aluminium oxide) catalysts.
• Oxidative coupling of thiols.
• Preparation of mesoporous molecular sieves.
• Preparation of polypyrrole (PPy).
• Preparation of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) interconnect.
