General description

Guard Cartridges for 4.6mmID TSKgel ODS-100V, 5um columns, 3pk TSKgel® Guard cartridges require a holder, which is sold separately. For 2 mm cartridges, the holder is Part No. 819308. For the 3.2 mm cartridges used to protect 4.6 mm columns, the holder is Part No. 819018.

The bonded phase in TSKgel ODS-100V columns is prepared by an incomplete first reaction with a difunctional octadecylsilane reagent, which is followed by endcapping with a mixture of two difunctional dialkylsilane reagents. Both reactions are performed under anhydrous conditions to promote the formation of a monomeric C18 bonded phase structure. The carbon content of TSKgel ODS-100V is 15%, while the carbon content of the fully bonded TSKgel ODS-100Z columns is 20%. Thus, while non-polar, the polarity of the ODS-100V stationary phase is high, which favors the retention of polar organic compounds. Thus, TSKgel ODS-100V columns can be used with mobile phases that do not contain organic solvent, making this column type very suitable for the analysis of very hydrophilic compounds.

Reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) is the preferred method for analysis and purification of polar and nonpolar compounds that are soluble in mixtures of water and organic solvents.
