General description
Cyclophilin D is a member of peptidyl-propyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family. It is a mitochondrial matrix protein and a component of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP).
Application
Human cyclophilin D has been used to study the effects of muscle denervation on the opening of the permeability transition pore and on the expression of cyclophilin D in rats.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Cyclophilin D catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and accelerates the folding of proteins and thus their formation. It plays a decisive role in mitochondrial permeability transition. The protein can bind to the immunosuppressant cyclosporine A and its overexpression suppresses the apoptosis in cancer cells.
Physical form
1 mg/mL solution in PBS (pH 7.4) containing 10% glycerol.

Cyclophilin-D (Cyp-D) is a mitochondrial matrix peptidyl-prolyl isomerase. Because cyclophilins can regulate nuclear gene expression, we examined whether Cyp-D could regulate mitochondrial gene expression. We demonstrated in HEK 293T cells that transfected Cyp-D interacts with mitochondrial transcription factors B1 and
