General description

Luteolin 7-rutinoside, also known as scolymoside (SCL), is one of the most abundant flavonoids present in an endemic South-African fynbos plant, Cyclopia subternata.

Application

Luteolin 7-rutinoside has been used in reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector (RP-HPLC-DAD) experiment to quantify phenolic compounds.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Luteolin 7-rutinoside has been used in the production of the South African herbal tea honeybush. Aqueous extracts of this flavonoid is used in food industry. Luteolin 7-rutinoside also possess anticoagulant and antiplatelet activity.
