Potassium chromate (K₂CrO₄) is an inorganic solid compound. It is mainly used as an oxidizing agent in the synthesis of organic compound.

Application

Potassium chromate is used as an oxidizing agent:

• In the conversion of primary and secondary alcohol into aldehydes and ketones using tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate catalyst.

Potassium chromate is also used:

• To prepare magnetoactive compound by reacting with iron(II) sulfate.
• As a reagent in the conversion primary allylic and benzylic halides to aldehydes.
