General description

Zingerone is a pungent, non-volatile, active phenolic component of ginger (Zingiber officinale) typically found in its root as well as in spice and herb species. It is extensively studied for its role as a male fruit fly attractant.

Application

Zingerone has been used as an analytical standard to quantify the analyte in oenological products by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). It may be used as an analytical standard to determine the analyte levels in Pinus laricio needles, ginger extracts, raspberry cultivars, and dietary supplements(10) by analytical techniques.
