Physical form

Lyophilized serum. Lyophilized from 250 mM sodium chloride, 10 mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.6.

Reconstitution

Reconstitute the lypohilized serum in 1 ml of sterile distilled water with occasional gentle mixing for at least 2 h at 4°C. Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage or refrigerate (4°C) with 0.1% azide for short-term storage. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.

Other Notes

Useful as a blocking agent in immunohistochemical procedures or as a negative control for specific mouse antibodies. For use as a negative control in any application, perform experiments in parallel using primary antibody or normal serum at the same concentration. A signal obtained with the normal serum indicates a nonspecific interaction; any additional signal with the primary antibody indicates a specific antibody-antigen interaction. This antibody has also been reported to work for ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation.
